Here are some images from the beginnings of our little harvest for the season. It seems a bit late, almost in time to leave – but I’m glad we got to taste some before we left.

Some pics of our finished bedroom. It is furnished pretty sparsely, really not doing full justice to the beautiful space.

Gregg and I resolved to go hiking this weekend, wanting to both get some badly needed exercise, and play in Utah a bit before moving. We found a hike at the Farmington Flats – slightly north of Salt Lake City and very hard to find! To get there, we had to go about over 10 miles on a super narrow gravel road, winding around a mountain, with steep dropoffs just feet away. Definitely more exposure then I was looking for…
Three years after we decided to build an addition onto our home by ourselves…from scratch….our master bathroom is finally done.I designed the space, drew up the plans, picked all the finishes and colors, etc..and Gregg build everything, did the electrical work, plumbing, tiling, caulking, etc. I am really proud of us!!! Gregg hand filed each of the tiles on the shower floor! They were all cut from 18′” x 18″ tiles!
Of course – it’s just in time to move out. When we finished the shower, it was right before we left for Australia, and we got one shower each before leaving it for 6 months. Now that the whole room is finished, we will have two weeks to enjoy it before heading to Berkeley.
Although we haven’t replaced all the cabinets, we are done with our kitchen for now – in time to move out! Sorry if there are re
I made my brother a laptop case as a thank you present for his herculean efforts during our wedding (he wrote and performed the most amazing ceremony, along with dozens of other thankless tasks during wedding week, including keeping me sane) . He considers himself to be a revolutionary Socialist, so I added the iconical fist.
A delicious dinner tonight – came out of nowhere!
I found a GREAT Sesame Tahini dressing recipe online at http://www.kripalu.org/article/410. I made a salad with Romaine, corn, cucumbers, tomatoes and sunflower seeds topped with this dressing, while Gregg took care of the main course.
We didn’t have many items to work with, but he managed to make a killer Spicy Apricot Salsa from fresh apricots off our neighbor’s tree, onions. green pepper, canned tomatoes (didn’t have fresh in stock) and frozen corn. I am not one for fruity entrees, but it was unbelievable. Combined with a warmed whole wheat tortilla filled with thinly sliced roasted butternut squash and potato. So delicious!!!
I am definitely NOT a food photog, but here is a pic! Gregg made fun of me for putting the salsa atop the burrito. He takes his salsa application very seriously apparently.
Before we move to Berkeley, Gregg is redoing a portion of the roof. It still has the original shingles from 1912, along with 3 other layers of shingles on top of it.
The finished product – done in mere hours with the help of our roofing professional / neighbor!
After years and years of workingwaytoomuch I have been offered and accepted a full time / full salaried / full benefitted position with a company called 42lines. Did I mention it was work from home?
I wasn’t so sure that there was a company that existed, which I would be able to work for after owning my own business for so long. However, this company is (so far) extraordinarily ethical. Just to name a few perks – We have May Day off, a socially responsible 401K, paid conference attendance of our choosing, and I was told not to work more then 8 hour days as a habit.
Although I have traveled around the world while many have been stuck in an office, it has come at a price – I have worked nearly every single day of it, to some extent. I have been on call nonstop – and as project owner, I have been the bearer of all the stress. Client after client with incessant ASAP requests wore me down and ate up a huge percentage of my free time.
I realized it was time to make a change, when – I was told by a client that if I wasn’t available on my Wedding week, they would have to call my competition.
So here I am! In new job Bliss. I am hoping more and more ethical employers will begin popping up. Employees are people! When we are happy, and respected we WANT to perform! Why has this ever-so-simple idea been ignored so widely?!
